SAMs 1.1.1, 1.1.4. This grant funds the purchase of a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer. Faculty research uses include synthesis and spectroscopic characterizations of diethyl-2-(4-hydroxyl-3-nitrobenzylidene)malonate and its derivatives because synthesizing nitrobenzaldehyde derivatives has applications in researching antibiotic resistance. In addition, the NMR will be used to research antimicrobic resistance specific related to organisms in a Canada goose population.
