Note:

As software and online services continue to grow, so does the need to serve persons with disabilities. This three-year project will be investigating the degree that different instructional materials and activities across undergraduate Computer Science and Information Technology programs at the University of North Texas result in both short and long-term skill and attitude shifts for its students. Rather than focus on a single course, the project will examine how different approaches to teaching accessibility have on students from their first-year courses through their capstone projects. Examples of the approaches to be integrated into the required, undergraduate courses include lecture material, related assignments, and projects that bring together relevant technical content and their relation to the needs of persons with disabilities. In addition, some students will also interact with persons with disabilities to gather feedback and to learn from persons with disabilities during their course projects.
