Note:
The major research objective of this CAREER proposal is to identify and examine reigning theories that govern the processes of ceramic structure formation through the selective infiltration of the polymer template. The PI proposes to overcome the many drawbacks of the traditional approaches of nanoscale patterning of materials by selectively infiltrating the material precursor into a polymer template, with structure and porosity of the resulting after polymer removal material defined by the molecular weight of the polymer domains. By (a) elucidating the mechanism of swelling-induced evolution of the amphiphilic block copolymer templates the project will (b) give full insights into the swelling-based infiltration with inorganic precursors to enable (c) design of highly porous heterostructures with functional centers. The project will disseminate implementations of the new knowledge and will apply it to the design of a wide library of materials for the aimed application needs.
