Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Development of Diffraction Lithography Driven 3D Microneedle Manufacturing System

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: Raphas Co. LTD

CFDA:

Program Title: none

Note:

1. OBJECTIVES R & D tasks in collaboration with Raphas Bio R&D center for developing the microneedle manufacturing process and system using diffraction lithography. 2. PROPOSED WORK • Description: Developing 3D diffraction lithography system for microneedle fabrication - Collimated ultraviolet (UV) light diffracts into a microneedle shape as it travels through a micro slit. - Light propagation, intensity distribution, and photo crosslinking reaction will be studied. - The microneedle shape from the UV light can be translated into a solid form using a photosensitive resin • Experiments for diffraction lithography - Varied UV light wavelengths have different optical characteristics such as transparency, propagation, and absorption. - It is also necessary to test several photosensitive resins for diffraction lithography in varied experimental settings. • Microneedle application - Transdermal drug delivery • Technical consultation on commercialization including marketability investigation 3. EXPECTATION • A successful 3-D microneedle fabrication technique employing diffraction lithography will drastically cut production costs and time. • An ideal model and approach for creating commercial technology through international and industry-academia collaboration is expected to be presented by a group of experts comprising of abroad research institutes and universities (University of North Texas and Raphas) Securing the unique 3D microneedles manufacturing and its vast health applications, which is the company's major field, through close collaboration between domestic and international researchers and domestic enterprises.
