Note:

The team plans to provide research, education, and career development opportunities for two underrepresented post-baccalaureate bridge fellows per year, one at each institution. The team will mainly recruit bridge fellows from the DFW area, where many colleges are MSIs. The fellows will carry out exciting research in extragalactic astrophysics. They will be carefully mentored by primary and secondary faculty advisors and a graduate student. To better prepare for graduate school, the bridge fellows can take one undergraduate or graduate class in astrophysics per semester. They will be assisted in their applications to graduate school, whether they choose to remain at UNT or UTD or venture further afield. Every two or three months, the bridge fellows will meet informally with all the TEXAS faculty to discuss their individual development plans, drawn up at the start of the program. The partnership developed by the project and the resulting activities will also enrich the experiences of other students and postdocs at UNT and UTD. Joint research meetings between UNT and UTD will be held every two weeks, with the bridge fellows, TEXAS faculty, and their other students and postdocs attending.
