Note:
This research project includes the following tasks/deliverables: 1. Development of a multi-physics model to predict microstructural refinement and distribution of second phase particles in Solid-Stir technology. 2. Microstructural characterization of the aluminum – nano-carbon composite at different length scales to characterize the presence and state of nano-carbon in aluminum matrix and surface, and at the interface between carbon and aluminum. a. The characterization techniques to be used to analyze the bulk material characterization are XRD, SEM, TEM and LEAP; and Surface analysis AFM, VASE, XPS ad FTIR.
