Note:
In the proposed research project, we will construct a zoning atlas for the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metropolitan region in Texas. Zoning, and other forms of land regulation, are increasingly identified as impediments to achieving a variety of public and private goals not only by academics but also by policy makers and advocates. In 2020, Sara Bronin and her team constructed the Connecticut Zoning Atlas and developed a standardized protocol for analyzing local zoning ordinances across jurisdictions, which started efforts to create zoning atlas(es) for the whole nation. We propose to use the methodology developed by Bronin and Ilyankou (2022) to build a zoning atlas for the DFW metropolitan region that complements similar efforts in Montana, New York, California, and Connecticut, among others.
