Note:
The Co-PI Yanyan He from University of North Texas will contribute to the Subaim 2.1 & 2.2 of the proposed research, i.e., implementing uncertainty quantification techniques for surrogate construction to approximate the odor capture model and for sensitivity analysis of the quantities of interest with respect to the uncertain factors. The specific tasks are listed in the following. Tasks: 1)At UNT, the Co-PI will work with one graduate student to construct efficient generalized polynomial chaos expansion to approximate the full simulation model (Subaim 2.1). Specifically, UNT will provide the parameters samples in input space for the PI (Chapman University) to run simulations. Based on the simulations’ output corresponding to the parameter samples, UNT will construct a surrogate model for the study of the physical system and efficient sensitivity analysis in Subaim 2.2. 2)Using the constructed surrogate model, UNT will implement sensitivity analysis to study the impact of uncertain factors on the quantities of interest. Specifically, UNT will calculate the Sobol indices to measure the global sensitivity, indicating the “importance” of each individual input and the input combinations.
