Note:

UNT’s Task Objectives 1) Provide the experimental support for GEM’s tool verification and validation using AFSD based slot filling, divot repair, and additive fabrication using Ti64 or steel parts (4130/4330); 2) Application of in-situ and ex-situ sensors to monitor temperature and material flow; 3) Application of advanced material characterization techniques such as optical microscope, SEM, TEM, and advanced NDI (high resolution CT scan) to determine the microstructure, evolution of precipitates, defects, residual stress, and local properties; and 4) Performance of static and fatigue tests for AFSD restoration coupons and evaluation of their performance against the baseline coupons (NAVAIR will provide sample divot coupons).
