Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Redesigning the cotton plants architecture to improve yield and quality
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
Cotton Incorporated
CFDA:
Program Title: none
Note:
PLAN OF WORK: 1. Test the efficiency of virus-based vectors to generate stable and site-specific germ-line edits in the cotton genome without tissue culture. Target genes for editing are those that influence the balance of vegetative and reproductive growth. The long-term goals are to improve crop management and enhance yield; architectures benefiting robot harvesting are prominent goals. 2. Use virus-based vectors to efficiently test hypotheses that manipulating the CLAVATA – WUSCHEL feedback circuit will promote the formation of larger cotton bolls that may benefit management strategies that incorporate distributed agricultural robots.
