Through its senior executive training program, the Civic Engagement Learning Lab (CELL) at the University of North Texas will provide research and professional development training to visiting scholar Hyunjung Choi. This scope of work is training visiting scholars at UNT. The contract is considered research under THECB criteria 1.3.2. "Activities involving the training of individuals in R&D techniques, commonly called R&D training, if such activities utilize the same facilities as other R&D activities and if such activities are not included in the instruction function. Dr. Hee Soun Jang will serve as principal trainer overseeing his research and professional development for the period July 15, 2022-June, 14, 2024. During this time, Dr. Jang will oversee Ms. Choi’s professional training and research on a project entitled, “Study of collaborative regional governance in urban revitalization effort-focusing on industrial economy development in the 4th industrial revolution era.” Learning activities will focus on professional training and research into applied economic development programs, and civic engagement and service development and management. CELL provides opportunities to senior executives to participate in research about nonprofit service role in community development and citizen engagement projects. The program offers senior executives first hand, highly engaging experience that inspires and transforms. Learning activities are enhanced by online programs and one-on-one coaching sessions.
