Note:

SAMs 1.1.1--Latinas represent one of the fastest growing populations in the US, yet Latina STEM faculty continue to be underrepresented. The “Latina ADVANCE Expose, Engage, Enable, and Examine (E4) Partnership: Transforming HSI STEM Departmental Climate for Latina Faculty Success” recognizes the importance of departmental climates in the recruitment, retention, and advancement of Latinas. To be successful in academia, Latinas must be supported by departmental and institutional environments that welcome and foster their engagement and career development. The GOAL of this research project is to transform STEM departmental climates and cultures into psychologically healthy workplaces where Latina faculty can thrive in ways that maximize their scholarly productivity and advancement. The anticipated STEM department climate transformation will be achieved through a multifaceted, multi-organizational partnership focusing on equipping department chairs and their change teams with the resources/tools needed to transform their departments’ culture/climate into psychologically healthy workplaces for Latinas. This research project leverages the influence, expertise and resources embedded within this partnership coalition of fourteen (14) academic and professional organizations, and strategically draws on the knowledge and insights gained from, but not limited to, NSF-ADVANCE projects to produce results that can be shared with other univierites and HSIs.
