Note:
SAMs 1.1.1--Our primary research goal is to develop propagation facilities and approaches to supplement threatened and endangered plant populations within established plant communities or establish new plant communities on suitable protected lands. The Gabler Lab at UTRGV will lead this thrust in collaboration with USGS personnel led by Dr. Beth Middleton, Dr. Chris Best of the USFWS, USFWS personnel of the LRG NWR and Ecological Services Office, and CBP personnel. Focal species for this effort include the seven endangered plants listed above. Our secondary research goal is to identify and evaluate pollinators for threatened and endangered plant species in the impacted region. USGS personnel led by Dr. Beth Middleton will lead this thrust, but the Gabler Lab at UTRGV will collaborate closely with USGS, USFWS, and CBP personnel and play an active and integrated supportive role. The current proposal focuses less on this objective due to the secondary role that the PI will play in this research effort.
