Note:

SAMs 1.1.1--This research effort will focus on releasing a biological control agent, Pseudophilothrips ichini (Hood) (Thysanoptera: Phlaeothripidae). This beneficial insect will assist in the control efforts of the invasive weed, Brazilian Peppertree (BPT) which is currently spreading through the RGV. This effort will focus in developing protocols and improving existing methodologies of rearing the insect in colony situations, then testing trial release efforts. Funding will primarily be utilized to hire personnel to assist with the laboratory and field efforts, which require significant manpower to conduct.
