Program Title: n/a

Note:

SAMs- 1.1.1 This research project will A. Maintain sentinel Aedes surveillance sites in cooperation with the local health departments (“LHDs”) and local vector control programs using oviposition traps (ovitraps); B. Operate field ovitrap sites at cities within the RGV, the numbers of which will be based on funding levels. City sites may (but are not required to) include Harlingen, Brownsville, Progresso, McAllen, Sullivan City, Rio Grande City, Roma, Laredo, Eagle Pass and Del Rio as funding allows. Time frame for operating field ovitrap sites is dependent on available funding, but will include at least one seasonal trapping period (spring, summer, or fall). If possible, performing agency will coordinate efforts with local vector control jurisdictions to expand field survey locations; C. Monitor the aforementioned traps on a weekly basis, and test collections for insecticide resistance before end of funding period; D. Count and record all ovitrap egg collections for temporal and spatial changes in Aedes populations; E. Rear all eggs to adults for species identification, if laboratory capacity allows; F. Enter and maintain the resulting Aedes surveillance data and share the data through regular reports with System Agency, the LHDs and vector control programs as data and results are available; G. Share insecticide resistance data with System Agency, the respective LHD and vector control program. System Agency will also provide entomological consultations with the LHDs and vector control programs if IR is detected to determine the appropriate action; and H. Provide other activities necessary to meet its responsibilities under this Attachment A.
