SAMs 1.3.1. The purpose of the proposed project is to establish a regional de-escalation training center at the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). We propose to establish a center that will deliver certified de-escalation curriculum to law enforcement officers within an identified region. The proposed center will collaborate with other regional de-escalation training centers and the national training coordinator at St. Petersburg College (FL) to ensure training is consistent and has been certified. The proposed center at LEMIT will deliver certified training through vendors already working with the national training coordinator, such as Blue Shield Tactical Systems, Crisis Consultant Group, and the Police Executive Research Forum.
