Note:

SAMs 1.1.1: Hypothesis: Design and implementation of a student-led SoTL research interest group will positively impact medical students by providing them opportunities to assess the design and delivery of the medical science education which can help them gain insight on various teaching/learning methodologies and develop associated research and critical thinking skills. Ultimately, this may contribute to an improvement of overall quality of medical sciences education in undergraduate medical training. Specific Aim and Objective 1: Using a mixed research approach, determine whether medical students view the SoTL research interest group as positively impacting their ability to engage with the medical science courses or sessions and critically analyze their effectiveness. Specific Aim and Objective 2: Using quantitative research approach, measure research productivity which include the number of abstracts, conference presentations, IRB applications, and publications that members of the SoTL interest group produced in two given school years. Specific Aim and Objective 3: Using a mixed research approach, measure student perceptions regarding the growth of SoTL research ability through participation with the SoTL research interest group.
