Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: BAM 2.0: Investigating density-dependent competition among desert bighorn, auoudad, and mule deer to identify achievable management targets

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept.
CFDA Link: DOI

Program Title: Wildlife Restoration (Section 4b)
CFDA Linked: Wildlife Restoration

Note:

1.1.1 -- quantify niche breadth and overlap among aoudad and mule deer under varying aoudad densities; monitor pathogen and disease prevalence among aoudad while reducing their density to identify whether removal reduces disease risks; project preferred habitat of deser bighorn sheep (DBS), mule deer, and aoudad; project co-occurrence probability across the landscape, representing disease transmission hot-spots and 'competitive battle grounds'; identify refuge niche space under the scenario that aoudad competitively exclude mule deer, then project refuge habitat and resulting interaction hot-spots; identify relationships between aoudad abundance and niche breadth of mule deer, identifying tolerable aoudad abundance to mule deer; and monitor movement, survival, and M. ovi prevalence in resident DBS herds in Big Bend Ranch State Park and Black Gap Wildlife Management Area.
