Note:
1.1.1 This research aims to quantify the amount of intergenerational wealth lost to Black Americans in Texas as a pilot project with the potential to make policy and industry recommendations. Critical to the project's success and foundation of centralizing data, we propose a dashboard detailing identifiable locations and the current market-rate value of residential properties identified as having tenants in common. While adding a human element, we plan to include oral testimonies from heirs describing their experience clearing the title, post-disaster recovery, or navigating probate without a will or deed upon death. Data collection and oral testimonies will be achieved through a public records review, engaged research, and strategic dialogue with stakeholders within the communities impacted.
