1.1.1 Conduct research statewide strawberry variety trials providing up to 20 varieties on at least 15 farms across selected regions (north and east Texas, south and southcentral Texas, and the High Plains) to determine optimal variety performance under diverse environments and production practices. We will collect data on these varieties evaluating for heat tolerance/stress (LiCor gas exchange at least once/season on selected varieties), plant growth, soil fertility, crop yield, as well as the presence of insects, diseases, and presence of weeds
