Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: High-Temperature Combination Heat Pumps for Lower-Cost Electrification: Design Support
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC
CFDA: 81
Program Title: none
Note:
1.1.1 The objective of this work effort is to lower the installed costs of electrified heating technologies while ensuring solutions are equitable and applicable to disadvantaged members of the community. Through collaboration with the Subcontractor, NREL will explore the potential of low-cost heat exchangers with embedded thermal energy storage to reduce the cost of combination heat pumps for multifamily buildings. By reducing the peak load requirements of the system using thermal energy storage, cost savings may be realized through down-sized mechanical components.
