We deem this project restricted research (SAMs 1.1.1) because it is PI directed, hypothesis driven, and will result in scientific publication. This project falls under the characterization of applied research wherein physical, chemical, and biological principles are applied to solve a specific problem. Herein the specific problem is how much oxygen demanding substances can be allowed to enter Upper Oyster Creek from rural and urban landscape processes and permitted wastewater dischargers and still maintain acceptable levels of dissolved oxygen (DO) that protect aquatic habitats and resources.
