Note:

1.1.1: The purpose of this collaborative research project is to unify and integrate the foundations of data science in computing, math and statistics using mathematical logic, and an associated practicing framework by leveraging problem solving practices in computer science. This will be done through the use of logical foundation to refer to the unified and integrated foundations. The logic foundation and the practicing framework fit well the data investigation cycle framework widely used for data science practice. These frameworks allow natural and deep connection of concepts from the abstraction of computer science (CS), mathematics and statistics concepts to programming of CS and allows contextualization of these concepts in solving relevant real-world problems using computers. Researchers will develop, implement, and study a yearlong data science introductory course, called LogicDS, what are based on these frameworks and various real-world datasets we have curated. The LogicDS course will be amplified to reach students of rural communities by our partnership with Florida Virtual School (FLVS), a leader in online K-12 education.
