Note:
1.1.1: The purpose of this collaborative project is to determine the regulatory and metabolic networks controlling desiccation tolerance (DT) in evolutionary diverse resurrection species and infer its origins during vascular plant evolution by analyzing the DT response using a functional genomics approach. Specific objectives include: (1) To determine the conserved and species-specific transcriptional changes during the key phases of vegetative and reproductive DT; (2) To identify the common and species-specific metabolic pathways activated during the key phases of vegetative and reproductive DT; (3) To determine the cell-type transcriptional and metabolomic responses to desiccation in vegetative tissues of key resurrection plant lineages, and (4) To determine the conserved and species-specific regulatory networks controlling DT in evolutionary diverse resurrection plant species.
