Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Unraveling molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying intramuscular subcutaneous and visceral adipose tissue growth in beef cattle
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
USDA-NIFA Cooperative State Research Ed & Extension Service
CFDA: 10.31
Program Title: n/a
Note:
1.1.1: The purpose of this research project is to define molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying IMAT, SCAT, and VIAT growth to develop depot-specific strategies to enhance marbling and limit undesirable fatness. The proposal goal is to define IMAT, SCAT, and VIAT-specific cellular heterogeneity and ASPC function, and elucidate how ECM modulates cell function in beef steers varying in marbling and fatness degrees.
