Note:
1.1.1, 1.3.2: The purpose of this project is to (1) affiliate TTU’ experimental site with two of the surface-based measurement networks of NASA’s Earth Science Division (Aerosol Robotic Network and Precipitation Measurement Validation Network) via hosting a number of instruments measuring aerosol optical depths, rainfall and rain rate and rain drop sizes; (2) engage and train undergraduate and graduate students in an MSI for hands-on research and help gaining experiences in acquiring, and analyzing data sets, publishing research results, and communicate for the societal impacts of research outcome of the project, and (3) leverage our existing ground-based remote sensing facilities of Texas Tech University (TTU) including a 200-m meteorological tower, West Texas Mesonet, etc.
