CFDA Linked: Geosciences
Note:
1.1.1: The purpose of this research project is to better under better understand the levels and types of US dust events, their spatial and temporal distributions, the meteorological conditions that initiate them, and the meteorological measurements taken during them. Such information will help fully understand their potential impacts on air quality, climate, and human health. Objective will include: Identify dust events that have occurred across the US over the past 20 years, observe their spatial and temporal changes; determine the meteorological disturbances that cause them; identify the differences in meteorological measurements between dust events based on their spatial and temporal distributions, intensity, and type, and examine how they change due to climatological changes.
