Note:
1.1.1: The objective of this research project is to conduct comparative analyses of the genomes and transcriptomes (i.e. gene expression profiles) of sampled plants and populations to identify the genetic and gene-expression signals that control emergence, size, and reproduction in individuals of this rare taxon growing under a gradient of environmental conditions. sites have distinct genomic profiles in comparison to those that occur on cooler and more moist sites. These observations, combined with our experimental data on reproductive fitness of the species under variable environmental conditions, indicate that the taxon likely will display strong genomic and transcriptomic variation that warrants investigation to guide its conservation, especially under a changing climate.
