1.1.1: . The main goal of this research project is the generation of the early time E1 portion of a high altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) event by an EMP simulator that uses free space radiators and without the use of bounded structures, such as a TEM cell. This will be done through developing, fabricating, and characterizing the proposed EMP simulator capable of generating the E1 portion of a HEMP event. The project will demonstrate/evaluate/characterize the EMP simulator and compare its performance to existing HEMP standards and capabilities.
