Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Addressing the effects of miRNAs derived from bovine colostral extracellular vesicles on the immune response to enteric infections in neonatal calves
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
USDA-NIFA Cooperative State Research Ed & Extension Service
CFDA: 10.31
Program Title: n/a
Note:
1.1.1: This research project proposes a combination of in vitro assays and an in vivo calf trial, divided into two integrated aims. First objective is to identify EVs-miRNAs derived from bovine colostrum that are involved in the regulation of the immune system. Second objective is to elucidate the effects of miRNAs in the GIT response during Salmonella challenge in dairy calves. This will identify the top miRNAs present in bovine colostrum that can modulate the GIT response during inflammation and the mechanisms underlying the EVs-miRNAs delivery.
