Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: SIRPgamma: a novel checkpoint regulator of effector responses from human T-cells
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
HHS - National Institutes of Health
Program Title: PAR-21-155 AREA R15 Clinical Trial Not Allowed
Note:
Despite extensive research, it is still not known why some individuals mount an exaggerated inflammatory response during an infection or toward their own self-antigens. This research will investigate whether inter-individual differences in Signal Regulatory Protein Gamma (SIRPgGamma) expression, a protein that is expressed on the T-cells in humans, regulates the magnitude and nature of inflammatory responses in humans. Given the association of SIRPg with multiple autoimmune diseases and vaccine response, understanding the role of SIRPg in immune regulation could significantly impact treatment in infection and autoimmunity.
