Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: AUTOMATED INTRUSION DETECTION: AN ANOMALY DETECTION APPROACH TO METADATA TRAFFIC ANALYSIS
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
National Security Agency
CFDA: 12.905
Program Title: n/a
Note:
The overall objective of this proposal is to design algorithms for detecting cyber adversaries based on behavioral anomaly analysis using enhanced metadata at the network level. The adversaries know it is straightforward to detect their identity if they connect directly to a target server. Our central hypothesis is that cyber intruders’ behavior will differ from non-intruders if they use evasion techniques such as routing traffic through an “anonymity network.” SAMs 1.1.1
