Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: FOUNDATION FOR OPIOID RESPONSE EFFORTS

CFDA: 00.000

Program Title: n/a

Note:

The purpose of this proposal is to create a multi-agency, multi-stakeholder evidence based consensus guideline to advance pharmacists' willingness to dispense buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid use disorder. First, we will conduct theoretically grounded focus groups with pharmacists in three states; California, Texas, and West Virginia, to identify attitudinal, environmental, and social barriers to buprenorphine dispensing. Next, we will recruit experts from addiction medicine, law enforcement, and the pharmacy profession to respond directly to pharmacists' barriers through the creation of a consensus practice guideline. Finally, we will disseminate the guidelines nationwide through accredited continuing professional education and a hybrid digital, print, and social media campaign in collaboration with three leading colleges of pharmacy (University of Houston, University of Southern California, and the University of Texas at Austin), the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, and the National Community Pharmacists Association.
