Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: 2023 MOBILE AND OFFSHORE AIR QUALITY MONITORING
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
Texas Commission on Environmental
CFDA: 00.000
Program Title: n/a
Note:
The purpose of this project is to provide mobile, ship-based, and other air quality measurements in the Houston area to complement planned National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) air quality flights for the Atmospheric Emissions and Reactions Observed from Megacities to Marine Areas (AEROMMA) campaign (NOAA, 2022). The collected data will build upon the 2021 and 2022 Tracking Aerosol Convection Interactions ExpeRiment - Air Quality (TRACER-AQ) campaigns, allowing for continued trend studies, investigations of ozone and particulate matter formation, model performance evaluations, and analyses of potential exceptional events and long-range transport analyses (NASA, 2022; Department of Energy (DOE), 2022). This will be the first air quality field campaign to validate the Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO) satellite, which will launch in 2023 and provide hourly observations of ozone and other relevant parameters (TEMPO, 2022). SAMs 1.1.1 and 1.1.7
