Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: EAGER: EXPLORING THE RNA WORLD AND THE RNA-PEPTIDE WORLD HYPOTHESIS USING A NOVEL DYNAMIC COMBINATORIAL CHEMISTRY (DCC) SYSTEM
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
National Science Foundation

Program Title:
n/a
CFDA Linked: Biological Sciences
Note:
The primary objective will be to employ this DCC system to test the competing RNA world and RNApeptide world theories. If a dynamically changing population of small RNAs continues to change largely independently in the absence of amino acids/peptides, that would suggest an extended RNA World may have existed. If instead, the presence of peptides and/or amino acids significantly changes the region of RNA sequence space being explored this would suggest a rapid transition to an RNA-Peptide World may have occurred. The second objective then would be to characterize the nature of sequence changes that support an early RNA Peptide World. SAMs 1.1.1
