Note:
The goal of this proposal is to understand the mechanical behavior of intermetallics with a novel core/shell architecture that endows them with simultaneous high strength and unprecedented deformability at room temperature. Specifically, we will study the mechanical behaviors of two closely-related systems - CoAl with B2 crystal structure, and Co3(Al,X) (X = transition metals) with L12 crystal structure. SAMs 1.1.1
