Note:

The proposed collaborative research project between University of Houston and Baylor College of Medicine is to develop comprehensive mathematical models for respiratory muscles, with a special focus on the diaphragm muscle. The proposed project is an innovative approach to uncover fundamental mechanism of diaphragm function, and to develop computational methods that are capable of simulating and predicting the complex shape, motion, and the stress field in the diaphragm during respiratory efforts.
