Note:

This proposal is for an R34 planning grant to support the development of the manual of procedures and document recruitment potential of clinical sites for a later proposal to conduct a clinical trial to determine whether low-dose atropine is able to delay the onset of myopia in children. This R34 proposal will involve multiple clinical sites demonstrating that they can each screen an appropriate number of children for such a trial and will also involve enrolling a small number of pre-myopic children for a two-week study to determine parent attitudes regarding daily administration of low-dose atropine. These data will demonstrate our ability to recruit pre-myopic children within the target age range to support the overall trial. SAMs 1.1.1
