Note:
UH will conduct ex-situ and operando characterizations involving SEM, optical microscope, and computational analyses on lithium metal batteries fabricated with solid electrolyte thin films.1 Focus will be put on the interface between the electrolyte and lithium metal.2 Air-free vessels developed at UH will enable the transfer of solid-state cells between a glovebox and characterization chambers without exposure of the moisture-sensitive cell components to ambient environment. Cell failure modes including the origin of possible Li penetration and dendrite growth will be investigated and correlated to thin-film structure.3 The characterization results will feedback to research efforts in Task 1 and 2. SAMs 1.1.1 and 1.1.7
