Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: CREATING A ROAD MAP TO CODE ADOPTION OF HIGH STRENGTH STEEL IN CONCRETE MASONRY: PHASE I

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: NCMA EDUCATION AND RESEARCH FOUNDATION

CFDA: 0

Program Title: n/a

Note:

The goal of the proposed project is to make a leap forward that will enable the use of high strength steel reinforcement in masonry design. For this purpose, a two-year feasibility study will be conducted to understand the use of high strength steel, in terms of material savings, constructability, and considerations in the masonry design. The study will consider the use of Grade 80 deformed steel bars, as this is the first upward step above the current limitation in TMS 402. To this end, the study will focus on usage of Grade 80 bars in masonry structural members to resist axial and bending forces. SAMs 1.1.1
