Note:

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) in children has an extremely high death rate compared to healthy children. Their disease is lifelong with no cure. We know that children with CKD also have lower physical fitness that may add to their higher mortality rates. Physical acvity has the potenal to slow the worsening of symptoms but there are no disease specific, evidence-based standards for children with CKD. We aim to add to the research in this area by performing a 12-week individualized physical acvity program. We will study the praccality and feasibility of our physical acvity telehealth program on children with CKD. Further we aim to evaluate whether our physical acvity program can increase physical acvity levels and improve secondary disease symptoms (quality of life, fitness). Lastly, we aim to describe and study blood markers of muscle breakdown (3-methylhisdine and myostan) that lead to muscle loss. These blood markers of muscle breakdown have not yet been described in children with CKD. Further, we aim to study the effect physical acvity has on these markers of muscle breakdown. SAMs 1.1.1
