Note:
(SAM Category 1.1.1.) The overall aim of the project is to develop a novel, affordable, manufacturing process for highly contoured composite structures, having optimized material properties for improved performance, with specific application for Un-manned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). To this end, a novel hybrid manufacturing approach is proposed, which combined Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) and press-molding to generate complex shaped parts used for UAV structures. For this two-year project, the scope is to develop proof of concept hardware, development of manufacturing procedure, conducting manufacturing trials, and investigating influence of performance parameters on the part quality.
