An investment in UTEP Aerospace Center's Digital Engineering Aerospace and Defense Systems Design Centers (DEDC) supports workforce development for digital engineering for the next generation of U.S. aerospace and defense manufacturing capabilities. Innovation in digital engineering and talent development with advanced digital skills are critically needed for agile development and delivery of new defense capabilities to counter rapidly evolving threats. Although developed in the U.S. in early 2003, the Digital Twin-supported manufacturing has become a critical element of weapon systems development programs of adversaries like China. To remain competitive and ensure U.S. readiness, we must make the necessary investments in innovation in digital transformation and the development of digital skills for the next-generation aerospace and defense workforce.
