Note:

The University of Texas at El Paso will provide support to the NSF I-Corps Hub through planning and executing activities that help strengthen the National Innovation Network (NIN) and support the program to achieve its objectives. Serving as a Partner Institution within the NSF I-Corps Hub: Southwest Region, The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) will leverage its entrepreneurial resources and its broad research portfolio to support training and growth of the region's innovators. Team Recruitment UTEP will contribute to developing the pipeline of teams participating in the national program from the Borderplex region by identifying and recruiting eligible I-Corps teams from science and engineering disciplines. Additionally, UTEP will invest time and effort in raising awareness of NSF's available commercialization pathways for successful national I-Corps Teams and will leverage the local ecosystem to contribute to the development of mentors that can help future teams. Recruitment efforts include participation in faculty forums, junior faculty orientations, interdisciplinary research group meetings, and a close collaboration with the university's Office of Technology Commercialization to form teams from new invention disclosures and provisional patents filed. Lastly, the university will also reach out to El Paso Community College and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso to accelerate research translation and interinstitutional collaborations.
