Note:
The University of Texas System Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation is submitting asupplement request in response to the Dear Colleague Letter: Post-Baccalaureate ResearchExperiences for LSAMP Students (PRELS). We are requesting funding to support postbaccalaureate scholars (n=18) who will conduct research under the supervision of research-active professors for up to one year at either the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) or at the Supplemental Award to LSAMP: Ultimately, the goal of the project is to provide an enrichment experience to LSAMP-eligible undergraduate students who were unable to participate in research due to the restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. This just-in-time experiential education opportunity will allow them to: (1) add another professional credential to make them more marketable in the STEM workforce, and (2) gain laboratory knowledge should they decide to pursue an advanced certificate or degree as part of their long term goals.
