Note:

Pesticides, fungicides and insecticides are established risk-factors for neuronal injury and neurodegenerative onset. Here, we develop and test whether Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs), which are nano materials synthesized from organic precursors including biodegradable waste such as fruit peel, lignin, used frying oil and waste paper, can restore cellular and organismal-level deficits induced by the aforementioned neurotoxicants. The proposed work is important because, if successful, it establishes green-chemistry derived CQDs as mitigators of environmental-toxicant-associated neurodegenerative disorders.
