Note:

Course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs) are an emergent avenue by which we can engage more students in real-world scientific practices. Increasingly, CUREs are instructed by graduate teaching assistants (TAs), yet TAs may be underprepared and face unique barriers when teaching CUREs. Unless TAs are provided professional development (PD) and resources to teach CUREs effectively, students may not reap the assumed benefits of CURE curricula. The CURE TAPESTRy network seeks to address these concerns by: (1) characterizing the current landscape of CURE TA PD; (2) conducting a national survey to identify the practices of current CURE TA PD facilitators; (3) developing and implementing a one-year fellowship program for TA-PD facilitator dyads interested in designing and field-testing new CURE TA PD resources; and (4) developing and offering an edX training course for CURE TA PD facilitators nationwide.
