Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Facile Methods for the Synthesis of Uranium-Carbon Multiple Bonds
Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity:
WELCH FOUNDATION
Program Title: #N/A
Note:
Our group is investigating the fundamental chemistry of the f-element series with a primary focus on uranium. Uranium is a technologically important element due to its role in the nuclear fuel cycle; yet, many aspects of its chemical properties and reactivity remained under explored. This proposal describes the synthesis of molecular uranium compounds possessing rare or unprecedented bonding motifs with carbon. Study of these compounds will provide a better understanding of the fundamentals of uranium and actinide chemistry.
