Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Reducing the Behavioral Health Gap by Increasing Awareness of Behavioral Health Resources in Underserved Communitiesof Southern Doña Ana County

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO

Program Title: #N/A

Note:

The mission of the Community Health Workers Initiative (CHWI) is to advance health and health equity for all New Mexicans. CHWI recognizes that the gap between those who need behavioral health services or support and those who receive it is sizeable. CHWI aims to increase the awareness of behavioral health resources, including the 988 Crisis Line, in our New Mexican Communities and work toward reducing this gap between need and access. This agreement is designed to create and/or expand a network of health care providers/Community Health Workers (CHWs)/Tribal Community Health Representatives (CHRs), and jointly operating a common health care service, that will or is likely to reduce health care costs, improve quality of care or improve access to care as it builds the capacity of CHWs and Tribal CHRs as well as their supervisors from around the state of New Mexico. This project will provide opportunities for New Mexico Promotores de Salud, CHWs, and Tribal CHRs from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds that are underrepresented and will lead to better health outcomes across New Mexico.
