Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Art of Game Theory in Cyber Threat Deterrence

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY

CFDA: 12

Program Title: 0

Note:

The game theory SME will advise on the characterization of games that model aspects of the threat hunting problem, and aid in the study of these games to determine useful properties such as the existence of equilibrium or dominant strategies and the computational complexity of analysis. They will also provide subject matter expertise on the state of the art in game theory research, including research tools (e.g., simulation frameworks); analytic methods; fruitful directions for additional work; and venues for publication of research. Task 1 Advise on characterization of game models The SME will participate in discussions of the threat hunting problem with the investigators to identify parts of the problem that can be modeled as games and provide expert advice on modeling, simulation, and analysis work. Meetings will be conducted at least weekly, via video teleconferencing, with additional meetings called as needed to discuss specific elements of the project. Task 2 Conduct and prepare research The SME will write technical reports and research reviews for the group on specific questions of relevance to the work. These questions may include analysis results of a game, or reviews of research literature concerning specific questions relevant to the project. The SME will also participate in the preparation of results for publication, including participating in the collaborative writing of papers and presentations. Authorship in published materials will be duly credited to the SME as appropriate.
